akwete.co sells hand-woven Akwete cloth from Akwete, Abia State, made by named weavers. These are the basics of buying from us; the short version is that we deal with you directly and fairly, and we'd rather sort a problem out than hide behind small print.

Requesting an order

Adding a piece to your bag and sending a request doesn't reserve it or complete a sale. Because every piece is one of a kind, it's possible — though rare — for a piece to sell before we can confirm your request. If that happens, we'll tell you straight away and help you find something similar.

A sale is only final once we've agreed the price, shipping and payment with you directly.

Prices and payment

Prices on the site are in US dollars and don't include shipping or any import duty your country may charge. We don't take payment through the site yet — once your order request is confirmed, we'll arrange payment with you directly.

The cloth itself

Each piece is woven by hand on the upright loom, not printed or machine-made. Small variations in colour, width and pattern between pieces — and even along the same piece — are part of that, not a fault.

Private Curation and silk

A commissioned or silk piece is made to your brief once you've agreed the design and price with us. Nothing is woven before that agreement.
